Description Venus fly trap
The Venus fly trap (Dionaea Muscipula) has an iconic appearance and is undoubtedly the most well-known carnivorous plant. Compared to the 'normal' Venus fly trap, this plant has long stems that grow from the ground upwards. Hence the name 'Flying Trap'. The plant contains many stems (leaves) with small 'mouths', also called the closing trap. The smell and colour of the leaf halves attracts prey that will serve as food for the plant. When the insect touches three feeler hairs - on the inside of the leaf - within 20 seconds, the trap closes and the insect is digested. The insect's nutrients serve as food for your carnivorous plant. This efficient and impressive plant cannot be missed in your living room and will continue to surprise your family, friends and of course yourself.
This species is bright red (dark red), which makes this plant look unique. Really a beautiful plant to have in the house.
