Description Sundew (Rotundifolia)
The sundew (Rotundifolia): a rare carnivorous plant species, which even occurs on Dutch soil. The Drosera Rotundifolia consists of small spoon-like leaves with hairs on the sides. On these hairs are small drops, these drops are reminiscent of morning dew. These droplets have a nectar smell, which makes the insects sit on the droplets. Once attached to a droplet, the insect will not come off again.
The sundew (Drosera Rotundifolia) is a beautiful plant to have in the house or in the garden and it catches mosquitoes. Handy for in the summer! Care of the sundew (Rotundifolia)
It is important to know that the Drosera Rotundifolia is a winter-hardy plant. The plant occurs naturally on subtropical areas, just like the peat soils in the Netherlands. So this drosera is at its best in the open air. Constantly wet feet and a nice Dutch sun, that is what this sundew loves. Never use tap water for this plant, as it will not tolerate it.
