The Pitcher plant "Manta Ray" (Sarracenia) gets its name from the beautiful flaps of the cups that - with a little imagination - resemble the Giant Manta Ray. The Pitcher plant has cup-shaped leaves, and the Sarracenia "Manta Ray" has rather long and wide cups. At the edge of these cups is nectar, which insects find irresistible. The impressive colours and nectar (scents) of the Pitcher plant lure the insects into the trap. Once inside the large cups, barbs within the cups make it impossible for the insect to climb out. The cups then digest the insect and use the nutrients. This way, this impressive plant provides its own nutrition and helps you with insects in your home.
