Description Utricularia 'Parthenopipes'
The Utricularia 'Parthenopipes', also known as 'Bladderwort', has probably one of the most extraordinary traps within the carnivorous plant family. The trap used by Utricularia is a very sophisticated and unique mechanism within the plant world, namely small air bubbles. The vesicles are about the size of a pinhead. In the vesicles there is a so-called underpressure. When the trap is touched by an insect, the valve of the bladder opens and the insect is 'sucked' into the trap.
The Utricularia 'Parthenopipes' grows beautiful white flowers with purple and yellow accents, which remind you of an orchid. This species originates from Brazil in the Bahia state.Â
